Molecular Healing During Sleep
There are multiples factors influencing proper recovery after a tough workout, and sleep is one of the most important.
At a molecular level, muscle tissue begins recovery by creating new cells. Assisted by other molecular agents, these new cells effectively “stack” over one another, creating a new layer. This process requires significant rest to ensure every step of regeneration is able to completed, uninterrupted.
Lack of sleep can inhibit this process by disrupting the chemical and physical processes. This not only leads to fatigue, but also a physiological lack of muscle reconstruction.
